I Wish ...

The following poem was written by a student in the tenth grade. We read John Lennon's "Imagine" and discussed it, then read Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World". We listened to the songs, of course. then, the students were asked to write about their wonderful world. The result was great, but the attached poem affected me greatly. so here it is for all of you to enjoy.

I wish ...

I'd like to have a wonderful world,
With Many people, young and old,
But I'd like it to stop only for a short time,
And then there will be peace, and no more crime.

I'd like it to stop, maybe a bit longer,
The bad will be good, and the weak will be stronger.
The poor won't be poor, and the rich won't be rich
We all will be equal, that's what I wish.

A world with quiet, peace and no anger, no war,
Is just a dream and nothing more.
Again, that's just a dream, too bad,
Instead of being happy, I am sad.
