Dear Teachers:
The first file is a new, special file of READ-ALOUD POEMS.
The idea/purpose is twofold: listening comprehension followed by a written
assignment.
The target population: 5 pointers in 11-12th grades OR advanced students on
all high school levels.
These poems are meant to be read aloud to the students, who then have to
take out paper to write the written assignment on [thus saves photocopying!]
The teacher can either:
1. put the written assignment on the board at the beginning of the lesson
OR:
2. read the poem once, THEN write the assignment on the board followed by
reading the poem aloud to the class a second time.
I have used these poems very successfully in my own classrooms. They are
different AND "they get the 'job done' while having fun".
The second file of READ-ALOUD POEMS is about teachers.
Sincerely yours,
Phyllis Oded
