This programme gives participants a comprehensive practical and theoretical background in the difficulties related to learning English as a foreign language. Participants will receive tools to assess students' learning problems and to build personal as well as class EFL intervention programmes for all age groups.
Course coordinators: Dr. Janina Kahn Horwitz and Ofra Rosenstein
Target population: Qualified English teachers with a B.A or a B. Ed. Degree.
Time: Thursdays - 14:00- 19:15.
This is a two year programme (504 hours) at the end of which participants will receive a certificate from the Ministry of Education stating that the participant has extended his/her qualification in the field of Learning Disabilities. This, in addition to a Gmul Hishtalmut with a grade.
Subjects to be studied:
- Introduction to learning disabilities
- Difficulties in language development
- Foreign language acquisition for children with learning difficulties
- Assessment tools for building intervention programmes
- Strategies for teaching English to children with learning disabilities
- Instrumental enrichment in English
- Vocabulary acquisition in a foreign language
- The computer as a tool for remediation
Each participant will do practical work as part of the programme.
