New Course for Mentor Teachers of English
Southern and South-central Districts

Who is eligible to participate? Mentors of new English teachers doing their
internship ('ñèàâ) in elementary and secondary schools in the central and
southern regions. -- present and potential mentors -- teachers who have
taught at least three years in the system
Participants will meet at the college every second week for four academic
hours. The meetings will be held on Mondays, from 15:45 till 19:00. The
first meeting will take place on November 13.
Participants will receive:
- a “gmul” of 56 hours;
- a refund of transportation expenses
- one hour weekly pay supplement while taking the course.
- tuition free of charge (except for the enrolment fee).
The course will be conducted in English. Topics to be discussed will
include the Ministry of Education requirements for mentors, including the
evaluation forms that all mentors are required to complete, as well as
general aspects of mentoring, such as assistance in lesson planning,
classroom management issues, different models of supervision, observation
skills, giving and taking feedback, relationships with colleagues, parents,
and other agencies, and the role of the English teacher as an educator.
